Brand + Communications Specialist

Job Description:

The Brand + Communications Specialist plays a vital role in supporting both the Brand + Communications and Project Lead teams, serving as a skilled copywriter and marketing project manager. In this role, you'll help bring marketing initiatives to life while ensuring messaging is clear, engaging, and aligned with encompas' brand strategy.

As a copywriter, you'll create thoughtful, strategically driven content that helps people connect with encompas in meaningful ways. Working closely with the Director of Brand + Communications and the broader team, you'll contribute to shaping and strengthening the brand experience for both clients and colleagues. Success in this role requires the ability to observe research, absorb information, interpret feedback, and translate complex ideas into clear, compelling communications.

As a project manager, you'll oversee marketing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring work stays on track, on brand, and on schedule. This includes establishing project timelines, coordinating regular team check-ins, monitoring progress, and communicating updates throughout the process. You'll also provide constructive feedback, identify potential challenges/opportunities, and escalate issues to the Director of Brand + Communications when needed to keep projects moving forward successfully. The ideal Communicator is both creative and organized—someone who enjoys crafting impactful messages while keeping projects aligned, collaborative, and moving toward successful outcomes.

Your job will be to:

  • Act as primary content writer for encompas, including but not limited to website, social media, proposal responses, email campaigns, and event collateral

  • Act as a steward of the encompas voice in all content produced ensuring consistency and creativity in alignment with our marketing goals - revising content holistically for tone, voice, brand and format

  • Utilize approved generative AI tools as only part of the copywriting process to brainstorm, draft, and refine content, driving efficiency and innovation

  • Explore and maintain understanding of key Encompas audiences

  • Attend meetings with encompas team mates to ask the relevant questions and gain the insights required to constantly improve content that resonates with intended audiences

  • Act as a filter for teammates producing marketing content – guiding in writing, tone/direction, editing

  • Manage marketing project timelines and deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders by coordinating project kickoffs, facilitating regular team check-ins, tracking progress, and maintaining clear, proactive communication throughout the project

  • Work collaboratively with internal teammates to curate and execute events in all of encompas’ markets (Kansas City, Omaha, and Wichita)

  • Other duties as assigned                                                                                                                                

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 0-5 Years Industry Experience. Experience designing for architecture, engineering, or other design related industries is helpful but not required

  • Understanding of digital design best practices for web, email, and social media platforms

  • Familiarity with Graphic Design Programs such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office Programs

  • Experience in social media, website design/management preferred, GEO and SEO a plus

  • Self-motivated and highly collaborative

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail

  • Portfolio examples that include client-facing writing

  • Meticulously organized and goal-oriented

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with focus, accuracy, and efficiency

  • Ability to meet both external and self-imposed deadlines

  • Ability to receive + give feedback thoughtfully and apply it effectively
